After a two-year hiatus due to the Corona pandemic, it's finally that time again: 2022 will close out the year with Christmas fairs in December.
While we are on the subject: In Bavaria, people expect the Christkindl (Christ Child or Child Jesus), not Santa Claus! That's why the markets during the Christmas season are called Christkindlmarkt. The most famous Christlkindlmarkt is the one in Nuremberg, which is correctly pronounced "Christkindlesmarkt" due to the local dialect. It takes place on the main market square and traditionally begins on Friday of the first weekend of Advent. This year, that is November 25, 2022. The ceremonial opening includes the famous prologue of the Nuremberg Christkindl, which is regularly broadcast around the world.
Just drop by and get to know Nuremberg, the former "freie Reichstadt" (free imperial city) with me. The Christkindlesmarkt is a particularly atmospheric event. And of course we will taste real Nuremberg gingerbread! To ensure that our physical well-being is also taken care of, we will stop at a good address in Nuremberg's old town. There you can get to know a delicacy of the local cuisine called "Schäufele".
Curious about it? Be my guest!
