Meeting Georg the Rich of Bavaria & Jadwiga of Poland!
A hundred years ago, a little more than 100 citizens of Landshut began to re-enact the "Landshut Wedding 1475". Today, more than 2,000 take part! Seeing this is really impressive, as everyone dresses up in medieval costumes. In front of the medieval backdrop of Landshut's old town, a colorful hustle and bustle in historical costumes takes place, making you feel like you've been transported back to the 15th century.
The three-week festival period includes almost 100 individual events, including the parade through the city and the jousting tournament, which attract more than half a million visitors. The historic game is supported by an association with around 7,000 members. By the way, the historic wedding was not in July but in November!
In 2014, the Landshut wedding was entered in the register of intangible world cultural heritage in Bavaria.
